Stan Lee was married to Joan Clayton Boocock in 1947. The couple had two daughters, with an unfortunate incident taking the life of one of the two daughters when she was just three days old. Boocock died in 2017 at the age of 95.

Lee worked at Marvel Comics when it was known as Martin Goodman’s Company. The first superhero he created was the Destroyer in 1941 followed by Jack Frost then Father Book. Lee served in the United States Army between 1942 and 1945 but returned to the comic world in the 50s working for Atlas comic.

Lee created the Fantastic Four when he was given a job by publisher Martin Goodman to come up with a new team of superheroes. He created the team with a joint effort from Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and Bill Everett. Doctor Strange, Thor, Spider-Man, Thor, Daredevil, and X-men were some of the characters they created.

Stan Lee went on to become the editorial director and a publisher in 1972 finally becoming chairman emeritus.

Stan Lee also made cameo appearances besides creating superheroes in Marvel movies. He appeared in Spider-Man 2002, Spider-Man 3 2007, The Incredible Hulk 2008, Deadpool2 and Avengers: Infinity War 2018.
