Robert Plant is a singer-songwriter and musician best known for being the lead singer of Led Zeppelin.

His love for music led him to leave home at age 16, dumping his plan to study accounting in college to join several bands in the Midlands.
His singing attracted a famous guitarist Jimmy Page when Plant performed with his then-band, Hobstweedle. At that time, Page was in search of a lead singer for his new band.
Before he met Plant, Page had already been turned down by his first choice, Terry Reid.
It turns out that Terry was the one who referred Page to a show at a teacher training college in Birmingham; the same show where Plant was singing in the band Hobstweedle.
The band Hobstweedle which was initially referred to as New Yardbirds in 1968, later changed their name to Led Zeppelin.
Thereafter, they released their debut album in 1969 which hit the charts and is widely credited as a catalyst for the heavy metal genre.
However, Plant has stated his opinion about the idea of people concerning the band’s genre of music.

Plant married Maureen Wilson on 9 November 1968. Together they had three kids; Carmen Jane born 1968, Karac Pendragon born 1972 (but died in 1977 during Led Zeppelin’s US tour), and Logan Romero born 1979.
Regardless of their happy beginnings, Plant and Maureen divorced in August 1983.
Plant is known to be a lover of Welsh history. It is reported that he contributed money to the creation of a bronze statue of the Welsh prince, Owain Glyndŵr, at Pennal Church, near Machynlleth, in Wales, unveiled in September 2004.
Also, he is believed to have funded the slate carving of Glyndŵr’s coat of arms at the Celtica museum in Machynlleth.
Plant was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire “for services to music” in 2009.
