Most Powerful Superheroes – Top 17 Strongest Superheroes Ever Created

Most Powerful Superheroes. Today, we will take a look at the strongest superheroes Ever created. This list was been made from my personal preference and opinion and is subject to correction and suggestions. The list ranks the most powerful superheroes ever created and goes beyond just superheroes strength.

This is because power differs from strength. While strength has to do with major weight lifting and powerful blows, power encompasses both strength and other superhuman abilities that are beyond human comprehension. These heroes have been our idols right from time immemorial. But, ranking these heroes are not as easy as it is naming them.

The idea of placing superheroes in a different position and deciding on who the most powerful is has raised lots of tantrum over time and has continued to spark controversy around. Why? Simple, characters sometimes exists in multiple dimensions, different times, and different realities.

However, I have decided to shed my own light on the situation and provide my own ranking of powerful superheroes since am a big fan of heroes myself. I have done my research and have applied what I learned to this article.

So, who are the most powerful superheroes Ever? If you’re a die-hard Marvel or DC fan, this list is definitely going to make your day because some of the most powerful heroes from both universes made their way to the top 17. So, without further ado, let’s get right to it…

Who are the Most Powerful Superheroes Ever Created?

17. The Vision

The Vision

Universe: Marvel

The vision is an android member of the Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes of the Marvel Universe. Vision was brought to life by the metal monstrosity, Ultron as what he describes as “synthezoid”, a type of android he created for use against his own creator, Dr Hank Pym (Ant-Man/Giant-Man/Goliath/Yellowjacket) and Pym’s wife, Janet van Dyne (the Wasp) of the superhero team the Avengers.

The MUC character has existed long in the comics but was first introduced into the Marvel Franchise in the Avengers. Vision is powered by the mind stone (one of the six infinity stones) and has Superhuman agility, intelligence, strength, and speed. He also possesses the power of flight, density control, intangibility, mass manipulation, regeneration, solar energy projection (courtesy mind stone), and technopathy. He ranks as the 17th most powerful superhero Ever.

16. Aquaman

Aquaman
Jason Mamoa as Aquaman

Universe: DC

Next on the list of most powerful superheroes of all time is the son of a lighthouse keeper and an Atlantean queen, Arthur Curry. He is the King of Atlantis, which makes him ruler of the seven seas, commanding a Kingdom that occupies three-quarters of the earth’s surface.

Aquaman is best renowned for his fish communication abilities. Not necessarily top of the most powerful member of the Justice League, but he sure is one of the fans favourites. He has a lot of abilities that make him one of the most iconic heroes of the DC Universe.

Some of these amazing abilities include superhuman strength, near invulnerable, enhanced reflexes, control over sea life, exceptional swimming ability, ability to breathe underwater, and of course, ability to fish talk – Which I think is pretty cool, don’t you think? He ranks as the 16th most powerful superhero Ever.

15. Aquaman

Aquaman

Universe: Marvel

Hercules deserves to be on this list, Afterall, he is the son of the ruler of Olympus, the almighty Zeus himself. Once considered the most strongest Marvel superhero (In a measure of strength greater than that of the Hulk), Hercules is immortal and possesses god-like strength, physically stronger than that of all the existing Olympians.

He is seen to have an unlimited strength level. But, it’s not just his strength that makes him one of the most powerful heroes, Hercules also has sublime durability like none ever seen before, impressive fighting skills, superhuman intelligence, superhuman speed, and when his power, as God of Gods, was beyond sky-father level Hercules was able to teleport, fly and emit energy blasts from his hands and eyes. He ranks as the 15th most powerful superhero ever created.

14. Martian Manhunter

Martian Manhunter

Universe: DC

J’onn J’onzz is seen by many as merely a shapeshifter and telepathic being, forgetting he is much more than just that. He is one of the most powerful DC superheroes ever and is ranked as the 14th overall most powerful superhero of all time. Although, we would have to agree that his weakness to fire is kinda like a let-down to this amazing superhero.

Nonetheless, if you put all his powers together, the Martin Manhunter is a serious deal to reckon with. As a member of the Justice League, the Martian Manhunter has been seen capable to take on his entire teammates single-handedly (supe’s included…and oh! Batman too!).

Some of his powerful abilities include the ability to read minds, invisibility, and possesses almost the same abilities as Superman, including his super-human strength too.

13. Silver Surfer

Silver Surfer

Universe: Marvel

Not on my personal favourite list but, the Silver Surfer is unarguably one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Created by the mighty Galactus to become his herald, the Silver Surfer was gifted with the ability to travel faster than light, absorb and manipulate uncertain amounts of energy.

He possesses cosmic powers which grant him super strength, endurance, and senses. Silver Surfer is, not one who goes about looking for a fight but is one you do not want to pick a fight with, except you are on a god-like power level. He once displayed his physical strength levels in a battle with the Hulk, hitting him so hard he rendered the rampaging beast unconscious. He is ranked as the 13th most powerful Superhero ever created.

12. Green Lantern

Green Lantern

Universe: DC

With the power of his ring, and his will to deliver justice and what is right, the Green Lantern stands as the 12th most powerful superhero of all time. Hal Jordan, who is a member of the Green Lantern Corps, a group of multiple DC superheroes that all gained their powers from an alien ring.

The ring is their major power source – a matter of fact is their only power source. It grants them some incredible powers and abilities like creating anything and whatever they can construct in their mind or can imagine in the form of light energy, along with flight ability and aura.

But, basically, the ring which seemingly possesses limitless power gives them superpowers that allow them time travel, travel through space, and jump instantaneously anywhere in the known universe. The Green Lantern ranks as the 12th most powerful superhero of all time.

11. Scarlett Witch

Scarlett Witch
Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch

Universe: Marvel

I am a huge fan of Scarlett Witch, especially after watching the Avengers: Endgame I had to go and do some research about this very beautiful but yet so powerful Avenger. She’s a mutant and the sister to fellow mutant QuickSilver.

Wanda Maximoff, before joining the Avengers was an evil witch who had put her hands in many evil pots and plots. But thank goodness for her change of heart, because you certainly don’t want to have one of the most powerful mutants in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the other side of ‘Team Evil’. She possesses incredible power of chaos magic. That means she can warp reality and existence and can deliver utter destruction to the Cosmos.

Her powers were given to her by the demon Chthon (imprisoned within Wundagore Mountain). At least that can explain why she was evil at first. She is beautiful and is also very powerful, ranked as the 11th most powerful superhero ever created.

10. Shazam

Shazam

Universe: DC

If not for the fact that when you find a way to shut him up for good without him being able to scream out his name out loud “Shazam!” he could have been on a later position on this list, maybe ranked within the top 5. Shazam is one of DC’s most powerful heroes. And his power has magical inclinations to it as well.

When Billy Baston was handpicked by the Sorcerer Merlin, he was bestowed upon with an incredible power that turns him into a superhero with powers. All he had to do was to scream out his name Shazam! and voila! He transforms into a grown man with unlimited power.

He tends to possess the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury. And oh!… He can shoot electric volts from his hands as well. How awesome is that for a teenager? He is ranked as the 10th most powerful superhero ever created.

9. Hulk

Hulk

Universe: Marvel

When you hear the name “Hulk” what comes first to your mind? Strength? Destruction? Rampage? Chaos? Well, you still won’t be wrong if you thought about any of those first. Because the Hulk, is a monster, but a monster we all love. He is listed among the most powerful Marvel characters ever and is by far one of the strongest.

There’s also a debate about his strength and who the strongest Avenger is. That debate, we would like to settle now. As far as strength goes, the Hulk is the strongest, reaching physical strength levels that are not yet certain (because the angrier this raging beast gets, the stronger he becomes being fueled by Garma energy). But, when we talk about most powerful Avenger, the answer still lies between Thor Odinson and Carol Danvers A.K.A Captain Marvel.

So, let’s go back to how powerful the Hulk is. Just so you know, the Hulk is the only Avenger to have fought everyone in the Marvel and DC Universe. He is so powerful, he once unleashed all of his power and destroyed a planet with a single punch. He is one of the very few characters that can see ghosts, making him able to spot Dr. Strange even in his Astral form.

He also possesses the capacity for vast levels of physical strength, self sustenance, Prolonged Longevity, superhuman speed, stamina, durability, Regenerative Healing Factor, Resistance to Psychic Control, Immunity to All Diseases and Viruses, Gamma Radiation/Energy Manipulation and Emission, Adaptation to Hostile Environments, underwater breathing, and superhuman leaping ability, etc. He is the 8th most powerful superhero ever created.

8. Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

Universe: DC

She may look gorgeous and all, but she insanely powerful you don’t wanna mess with her ’cause she’ll break your neck…Literally! Her name is Diana of Themyscira, Daughter of Hippolyta, she is a Princess of Amazon.

We could have called her the step-sister of Hercules but, she has no father. She was created out of clay by Zeus. Wonder Woman is a member of the Justice League and is one of the most powerful members at that. She possesses god-like abilities which include flight, super-speed, super-human strength, invulnerability, great combat skill, and durability.

Let’s just say, she can do most of the things superman can, and even fights better. And as proven back in the ’90s when Marvel and DC decided to do a major cross-over, Wonder Woman was also deemed worthy as she was able to lift Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. She is ranked as the 8th most powerful superhero ever created.

7. Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel
Brie Larson as Captain Marvel

Universe: Marvel

Before she was rebirth as Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers was a United States pilot for the Airforce. However, when she got exposed to the explosion which resulted in her being transformed into Captain Marvel, she became one of the most powerful beings in all the universe.

Her power levels instantaneously grew without proportion, she possessed energy absorption and can magnify her powers, giving her the ability to discharge explosive blast and radiant energy from her fingers. Plus, Captain Marvel’s super-Binary form allows her to transform into an energy-manipulating state giving her the ability to lift weight up to a 100 tons, super flight ability, flaming hair, and eyes, which I think are just pretty cool.

She is dubbed an alien-hybrid superhero and is ranked as the 7th most powerful superhero of all-time.

6. Doctor Strange

 Doctor Strange
Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange

Universe: Marvel

To be able to do magic is awesome, but do you know what is more awesome than that? I’ll tell you what? To be able to do magic and become the master of the Dark Arts, the Sorcerer Supreme himself. Now, that’s more awesome. He is definitely one of Marvel’s most powerful superheroes. He is the protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats.

His suit is made up of two main relics, the Cloak of Levitation, and the Eye of Agamotto. He draws his power from the Eye of Agamotto and is the keeper of the Time stone, one of the 6 infinity stones. This is a breakdown of his abilities includes many such as Mastery of magic, Utilizes mystical artefacts, Cloak of Genius-level intellect, Skilled martial artist, Gifted physician, and surgeon. He is the 6th most powerful superhero ever created.

5. Jean Grey/Phoenix

Jean Grey/Phoenix

Universe: Marvel

Jean Grey is an Omega-Level-Mutant. She is one of the most powerful members of the Xmen. She draws her power from the Phoenix force. The Phoenix on the other hand, which is ranked as IGN’s 9th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time, is an immortal and immutable manifestation of the universal force of life and passion.

Jean Grey “The Phoenix force is a child of the universe and is the nexus of all psionic energy which does, has, and will exist in all realities of the multiverse.” So much power on an intergalactic level, Jean Grey becomes the 5th most powerful superhero ever created.

The Phoenix Force grants her telepathy and telekinetic abilities at greater levels, and she has been able to rearrange the molecular structure of matter and is also able to fly at supersonic speed. Thus, granting her the ability to travel through hyperspace. She is also seen to possess superhuman strength and can destroy Shi’ar battleships without any hassle.

4. Spectre

Spectre

Universe: DC

The Spectre is our next most powerful superhero on the list. It is one of the powerful agents of the Presence, the most powerful being in the DC universe. Spectre is the Presence’s divine spirit of vengeance, bound to possess a host to curb and offer his power and guidance.

How powerful Spectre is, is what is still uncertain because his power levels seem to differ by the host he occupies. That is, his powers are radiant around the host he resides and what he can do reflects upon the imagination, the willpower, and desire for vengeance by the host.

So, if he takes on the body of a person filled with grief, anger, and thirst for vengeance…Well, we know how that story goes! The Spectre powers have virtually unlimited variability. Like he is capable of rearranging matter, open dimensional apertures, teleport objects as well as an increase in his size and strength. He ranks as the 4th most powerful superhero ever created.

3. Sentry

Sentry

Universe: Marvel

The Sentry is almost on the same power level as Superman. He has proven himself to be one of the most powerful heroes in the MCU since his inception. Sentry has stated personally that the high overall level of his powers is comparable to that of a million exploding suns.

He possesses superhuman strength, speed, flight, senses, Invulnerability/Regeneration, Phasing/Intangible, Invisibility, telepathy, resurrection, shapeshifting, empathy, matter manipulation, etc. Sentry is the 3rd most powerful superhero on this list. Sentry is regarded as Marvel’s answer to DC’s Superman. And when compared to the Caped Kryptonian, the argument seems to reach an unending conclusion.

2. Thor

Thor

Universe: Marvel

Thor is considered the most powerful Avenger, but not necessarily the strongest. Because they still have the Huk. But, nonetheless, Thor is far more powerful than any Avenger and can reach power levels that even Odin, his father, isn’t able to reach.

Now, one thing should be stated clearly is that Thor is not made powerful by his Hammer, Mjolnir. Rather, Mjolnir is just a tool given to Thor to help him channel his power. Thor is the god of thunder, son of Odin, and the Heir to the throne of Asgard.

When fused with the power of the Odin’s Force, Thor can match the same power levels as some celestials. But he is not just powerful, he can pack quite the punch too. He possesses godlike strength, above normal intelligence, superhuman speed, stamina, flight ability, durability, agility and reflexes, Invulnerability, senses, and lots more. He is the second most powerful superhero on the list.

1. Superman

Superman
Henry Cavill as Superman

Universe: DC

Ah, Superman! What can I possibly tell you about him that you do not already know? Is there any need to argue on this? I mean, this is Superman! He is one of the very few heroes to have faced almost all kind of threats, from celestials, demi-gods, magicians, mutants, intergalactic beings you name it! He is known to have saved all of reality and even the multiverse on several occasions.

His power levels are limitless per se but limited only by his strong sense of morality which has kept him in check over the years, preventing him from becoming a super-powered evil tyrant. Because, when Superman turns evil, the whole universe trembles. He can do basically anything he wants. But my major let down of this amazing hero is his weakness to Green Kryptonite. However, He isn’t just the most powerful, he is the most everything.

And then there’s Superman Prime. This future version of Superman can do everything the modern Superman can but at an extreme level. As his story is told, Prime stayed in the earth’s sun for 15,000 years, giving himself a solar charge like nothing ever seen before.

His long visit to the sun gave him nigh-omnipotence, invulnerability, and the ability to create life and entire universes. But, till we get a full storyline on that version of Supe’s, let’s stick with our very own Daily Planet’s Clark Kent. Who is the most powerful superhero of all time.
