Most Powerful Marvel Characters – Top 17 Strongest MCU Characters

Who are the most powerful Marvel characters and which other characters are powerful enough to make the list of top 17 most powerful? In today’s post, you will find out which Marvel characters are ranked as the most powerful in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Over time, there have been a series of arguments as to who the strongest Marvel character(s) is/are. We’ve seen some pretty amazing characters with some incredible, death-defying, jaw-dropping powers. And to date, more and more characters are being recreated out of the comics.

But who is the most powerful character? This question has proved to become nearly unanswerable due to the constant revising of character powers and abilities. We recently saw the introduction of Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) into the Avengers Franchise. And now, her presence has stirred up some form of argument of who the strongest Avenger is between her, Thor, and the Hulk. But, however, the question of most powerful differs distinctively from the strongest character.

This is because, character strength in the comic is vague and hard to qualify or quantify, as one character has to be stronger than another, so the list can go on and on. But power is on a whole other level of different.

On our list, we shall be looking at the most powerful beings (which strength is also an added feature of) in all of Marvel lore. These mighty characters are known to possess incredible strength, intelligence, and abilities (beyond human comprehension) that rival that of gods!

So, are you excited to find out who the most powerful Marvel character is? Do you have anyone in mind already? Maybe the god of Thunder, Thor? Or Oblivion? What about the Hulk? Well, let’s get on with the excitement and see who the 17 most powerful characters are in the Marvel Cinematic Universe…

Most Powerful Marvel Characters

17. Vulcan

Vulcan

First on our list and the 17th most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Vulcan. Vulcan, whose name is Gabriel Summers is the brother of Cyclops (Scott Summers) and Havok (Alex Summers).

He is an Omega Level Mutant with the ability to absorb and manipulate any form of energy and channel it through his energy blast which has earned him the 17th spot on our list as the most powerful Marvel Character.

Though a villain, raised away from earth by the Shi’ar Empire as a slave, he made his first appearance in X-Men: Deadly Genesis #1 in 2006.

16. Hyperion

Hyperion

On the number 16th spot is one of my personal favourites (which is not a reason why he made the list) Hyperion. He is one of four members of the evil team of supervillains – Squadron Sinister, and surprisingly, once an Avenger.

Created by the Grandmaster, Hyperion made his first appearance in The Avengers #69. Hyperion was made to imitate DC Comics superhero, Superman, having similar abilities as the Krypton god which includes super strength, super speed, reflexes, Superhuman Stamina and Self Sustenance, Nigh-Invulnerability, Flight, Atomic Vision, and Enhanced Senses.

He remains one of the mightiest super-humans in the Marvel Multiverse and the 16th most powerful Marvel character.

15. Odin

 Odin

Odin comes up next as the most powerful Marvel character. He is the Father of another – soon to be mentioned powerful Marvel Character – Thor, and the god of mischiefs, Loki!

Odin, who is immortal and the King of Asgard and protector of the Nine Realms was regarded as the strongest of all Asgardians (before the birth of his heir Thor) and are able to manipulate magic. He also has the ability to absorb all the powers of all Asgardian into himself which would further increase his already redoubtable powers.

In fact, Odin is so powerful, it was recorded in Marvel Fact *457 thatafter a war in the tenth realm of Heaven resulted in the apparent death of Odin’s daughter, Odin unleashed the full might of the Odin Force and tore the tenth realm from the roots of the world’s tree, Yggrasil, and sealed it away, hidden from sight and memory until Thor and Loki opened the doors to the tenth realm eons later.” That’s pure power!

14. Hulk

Hulk

Power and strength differ from level to level, but the Hulk’s inclusion on this list as the 14th most powerful Marvel Character sterns from the characters ability to reach a limitless amount of rage; which is a defining source for his power. And so, the angrier he gets, the more powerful he becomes, making him one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe.

Borne out of Gamma radiation, the Hulk (Bruce Banner) is known possesses the capacity for vast levels of physical strength, self sustenance, Prolonged Longevity, superhuman speed, stamina, durability, Regenerative Healing Factor, Resistance to Psychic Control, Immunity to All Diseases and Viruses, Gamma Radiation/Energy Manipulation and Emission, Adaptation to Hostile Environments, underwater breathing, and superhuman leaping ability, etc.

13. Hercules

Hercules

As far as physical strength goes, Hercules is considered to be the strongest character in the whole Marvel Universe. But, strength like we said, differs from power. However, he is not the son of the Olympian god Zeus for nothing.

Hercules comes as the 13th Most powerful Marvel characters. , and this is why! Firstly, as the son of a god, that means he is also a god (though a demigod since his mother was human). Secondly, known as the Prince of Power, Herc possesses demigod power levels, impressive fighting skills, immeasurable strength, and is capable of defeating the likes of Thor, Sentry, the Hulk, and even the Destroyer.

And thirdly, it is recorded in Marvel Facts that he once knocked out the Abomination with just a single blow, murdered Ragnarok Satur with his own sword, and held up the weight of the heavens with a single hand – that I consider the most impressive.

12. Grandmaster

 Grandmaster

Although, there wasn’t much display of his power in Thor: Ragnarok, the Grandmaster is by far one of the Most powerful Marvel characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is ranked as the 12th most powerful there is.

His is one galactic entity who loves to enjoys putting beings in the challenge pit to battle for his amusement. We could see that when he placed Thor to challenge against the Hulk in Ragnarok. En Dwi Gast, also known as the Grandmaster is one of the ancient Elder of the Universe; a group of ancient and powerful extraterrestrials that arose following the creation of all things.

These Elders survive by having a defined monomaniacal pursuit of something, and the Grandmaster chose him to be playing Games. As an extraterrestrial, he has studied, played, and mastered immeasurable amounts of games, creating some of his own, unique tournaments and competitions in a bid to further diversion.

11. Thor

Thor

We’ve earlier mentioned his father Odin, as one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now let’s look at why Thor Odinson has also made the list. Like his dad, Thor is also an Asgardian and the heir to the throne, after Odin.

And like Hulk and Hercules, earlier mentioned on the list, Thor is also one of the strongest and most durable characters in all of the MCU. We witnessed in Avengers; Infinity War where his power and strength was put to the test when he took on the full force of a Neutron Star.

Thor has an impressive energy manipulation ability that can rival that of the Silver Surfer, and more impressively, he has managed to obtain mastery of the weather and earth.

10. Dormammu

Dormammu

Although this mystical extraterrestrial intergalactic being lives in another dimension, he is still one of the most powerful forces to be reckoned with in the MCU. Dormammu, who ranks as the 10th most powerful MCU character is known to bring nothing but chaos and utter destruction wherever he goes.

He is locked away in the Dark Dimension, but in many different attempts, have tried to escape. In the movie Doctor Strange, Dormammu was seen trying to escape the Dark Dimension, but his efforts were stopped by Doctor Strange, otherwise he would have destroyed the earth.

9. Galactus

Galactus

Next to Dormammu is another intergalactic mega-being, Galactus. He is so dreadful and powerful, he eats planets for a living. Known as the ‘Devourer of Worlds’, Galactus has unlimited cosmic power and knowledge and is the one who gave the Silver Surfer his powers. Galactus possesses technology more advanced than anything seen in the multiverse, one that works directly connected with his biology.

8. Magus

Magus

Magus comes up at number 8th as the Most powerful Marvel characters in the MCU. His powers can be compared to that of Galactus and have been seen to do even more. His main power is unlimited shapeshifting; He can become anything virtually, any substance, size, colour.

However, Magus has other incredible powers like wraith-like life absorption, teleportation, cosmic powers, and was once in control of all-six infinity stones.

His possibilities have no known limits, as he can potentially shape-shift into a cannon, a planet, starships, and possesses extremely powerful telepathy. Magus once defeated the mad Titan Thanos in a massive intergalactic battle.

7. Surtur

Surtur

If you’ve seen the movie Thor: Ragnarok, you’ll probably remember Surtur, the fire giant at the beginning of the movie. He is an immortal being from the extradimensional plane of Muspelheim.

He a sworn enemy of the throne of Asgard, and to Odin and his son, Thor. It is his destiny to bring to pass Ragnarok, which involves him destroying the entire Asgard with his Twilight Sword, for it to be reborn.

Standing at over a thousand feet, Surtur is so powerful he has the power of thousand blazing suns. He has super speed, durability that beats that of the god of thunder, Thor, super strength, and is able to manipulate fire and cosmic energy. He ranks as the 7th Most powerful Marvel characters in the MCU.

6. Mikaboshi

Mikaboshi

Of all abstract beings in the universe and galaxies, Mikaboshi one of the most powerful of them all. He is a Japanese god of evil and chaos with powers more greater than that of the king of Asgard, Odin, and the god of Olympus, Zeus.

He has powers such as immortality, reality manipulation, stealth, strength, healing, endurance, shape-shifting, and more. Mikaboshi has defeated the god of lightning and king of the sky Zeus on two separate occasions.

5. Phoenix Force

Phoenix Force

As mighty and powerful as Galactus is, he was defeated single-handedly by the Phoenix Force. The Phoenix Force; a cosmic entity with limitless extinction power levels, is one of the most powerful and feared cosmic beings in the MCU.

Ranked as the 5th Most powerful Marvel characters in the MCU. , this cosmic entity has the ability to penetrate into any timeline or dimension, and take on any host of its choice. Most recently Jean Grey, Rachel Grey, Emma Frost, and even Professor X. It is capable of absorbing the life-force of any being, even the sun’s energy.

4. Franklin Richards

Franklin Richards

When his powers began to manifest at a very early age, his parents, Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards) and Sue Storm didn’t expect their son to become the most powerful mutant on earth ever. Franklin Richards, who is an Omega-level mutant, was born with many incredible and powerful abilities.

As a matter of fact, his powers were said to match that of celestials as he has the ability to warp reality on a much more massive scale, take control of the fundamental forces of the universe, and is able to create miniature universes – which is something only celestials are capable of doing.

His powers are only becoming more greater as he grows more mature. He ranks as the 4th Most powerful Marvel characters in the MCU.

3. Living Tribunal

Living Tribunal

The Living Tribunal is believed to be as old as the universe itself and was once considered the most powerful character in the MCU.

He is so powerful that even with the Infinity Gauntlet, and all six infinity stones making him the most powerful being in the universe, the mad Titan Thanos didn’t think it wise to engage the Living Tribunal in combat.

His powers are without limits and are able to wipe out any planet from the universe, and entire realities from very existence. The Living Tribunal ranks as the 3rd most powerful character in the MCU.

2. Beyonder

Beyonder

Our second most powerful Marvel character is the Beyonder. The Beyonder as his name aptly applies is a physical embodiment of entire multiverse known as the Beyond-Realm. He is so powerful, that he is nearly omnipotent.

He has extreme telepathy ability that enables him to penetrate the minds of every living being on the planet earth at the same time. The Beyonder once created a world known as the ‘Battleworld’ during the Secret Wars story arc. In this world of his making, he compelled heroes and villains from earth to battle in an unending war like they were his toys.

He also has unlimited strength and psionic abilities far beyond any superhuman and most cosmic entities. He is feared by some of the most powerful cosmic and celestial beings in the MCU such as the likes of the Living Tribunal, Ego, Eternity, Galactus, etc.

1. One-Above-All

One-Above-All

Down to our last and Most powerful Marvel characters is a character whose name is enough to earn him the top spot as most powerful. I mean, it says ‘One Above All’, is a clear confirmation about its position to be above all other characters ranked on the list.

The One Above All is the most powerful character in the MCU and is the creator of all life in the multiverse and beyond. As a celestial, its power levels are immeasurable, as it’s known to exist beyond time and space.

Its omnipotence and cosmic superiority are far exceeding that of the Living Tribunal, Beyonder, and Eternity. It is the most Most powerful Marvel characters in the MCU and is believed to represent the creators of Marvel Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.
