Born to a Jewish family on March 15, 1988, in Cheltenham Township, Philadelphia. During his upbringing, Lil attested to the fact that as a young boy he was emotionally weak and wasn’t good looking but he was an intelligent student and class favourite.

He attended Cheltenham High School and notably didn’t have any girlfriend while in school as he focused on his academics. After high school, he went on to study at the University of Richmond where he graduated with distinctions in 2010. Upon graduation, he moved to the city of San Francisco, California and worked at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. The company was impressed by his creative ability decided to move him from the accounts department to creativity department where he did tremendously well. Lil Dicky developed a passion for music at a young age and finally decided to pursue his musical career while still working.


His sojourn into the world of music was basically for him to venture into other aspects of entertainment which includes comedy, scriptwriting and acting. His plan wasn’t successful as he developed a passion for rap music and hasn’t stopped rapping. He released his first mixtape in 2013 titled So Hard which he recorded on his laptop.

After months of consistent hard work, he attained fame after he released the music video for his song “ex-girlfriend”. The video got trending on YouTube receiving millions of views. The success of his song didn’t slow him down as he continued releasing more songs. Dicky got broke and had to raise funds from his fans. He targeted $70,000 but was able to realise over a $100,000. He later joined the likes of Tyga and Chiddy Bang as he got signed to CMSN.

Having been signed to a record label released his first album Professional Rapper which he featured top artists. He set a record in the music video of the song Pillow Talking. In 2018, he featured Chris Brown in his song Freaky Friday which went on to top charts and also made him some money. He has continued to release top songs and has featured top stars.
