Joseph Michael Cortese was born on February 22, 1949, in New Jersey. He graduated from Midwestern College in Denison, Iowa where he earned his BA in Theatre/Communications under the guidance of his acting teacher, Alfred Rustico.
During his college years, Joe had lead roles in several plays and featured alongside many New York and Hollywood actors.
Some of his theatre credits include Lenny in “Of Mice and Men”, Pozzo in “Waiting for Godot”, and Patsy in “Three Men on a Horse”, to mention a few.
He moved to New York after graduating from college to pursue a career in acting. However, Joe started off his career as a Journalist on Madison Ave at the age of 22. He was the associate fashion editor for Gentlemen’s Quarterly at Esquire.
Joe established a good working relationship while working with Esquire but left shortly to pursue his dream of acting and writing.
