The rapper popularly known as Gucci Mane was born as Radric Delantic Davis on the 12 of February 1980 in Birmingham, Alabama to Ralph Everett Dudley and Vicky Jean Davis. His father is an Ex-US Serviceman and works in a power plant while his mother is a school teacher and social worker.
Growing up, Gucci Mane was homeschooled by his mother who taught him the basics of reading and writing before he was admitted into Jonesboro Elementary to obtain a formal education.
After his mother moved to East Atlanta, Gucci Mane attended Cedar Groove Elementary School. He was introduced to the sale of cannabis at the age of six.
Good thing, it didn’t affect his academic performance at Ronald E. McNair High School.
After his graduation in 1998, Gucci Mane won a HOPE Scholarship to Georgia Perimeter College for a computer programming course.
His scholarship was withdrawn and he was kicked out of school after he was found with crack cocaine by an undercover officer in 2001.
He was sentenced to 90 days in prison which was the beginning of his long battle with the law enforcement and correction officers.
