Early Life of Gavin Free
Gavin David Free was born on May 23, 1988, in Oxfordshire, England and started his career working on advertisements and with music videos. In 2009, he was hired by Rooster Teeth Productions to direct their machinima series Red vs. Blue’s seventh season and its mini-series Relocated.
He became a member of Green Door Films(Which then, were the first production house to make use of digital high-speed cameras to create slow-motion scenes)in 2006 at age 18. There he worked as a data technician and camera operator for the production company. Gavin has also worked on adverts and music videos for U2, Enter Shikari, Klaxons, Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers, X-Press 2, and the “Everybody Hurts” charity single. Gavin met Daniel Gruchy while working at his local superstore named Waitrose. The duo then developed a cordial friendship and went to create the YouTube channel named ‘Slow Mo’Guys’.
Gavin’s career kicked off in 2009 after he was hired by Rooster Teeth Productions to direct the 7th season of their machinima series Red vs. Blue and also the show’s mini-series Relocated. While at Rooster Teeth Production, Gavin began making series of appearances in the production company’s comedy mini-series Captain Dynamics.
