Gerald Earl Gillum popularly known as G-Eazy was born on the 24 of May 1989 in Oakland, California. His father is an associate professor of art at CSU Fresno.

His parents separated when he in first grade. Gerald then lived with his grandparents Berkeley, California. His grandparents moved back to North Oakland, however, Gerald continued schooling Barkley. After high school, he got accepted into Loyola University and graduated in 2011.

Career

Starting his career as a record producer, G-Eazy worked on a number of singles with his producer Christoph Andersson during his years in college at Loyola University.

He joined his local hip hop music group called ‘Bay Boys’. Together, they released a couple of songs via the MySpace social media platform.

His recognition began to increase with his collaboration with some of the big names in the music industry such as Lil Wayne, and Snoop Dogg in 2010.

In 2011, G-Eazy released his mixtape Endless Summer, which featured a number of songs, most notably a remake of 1961 classic ‘Runaround Sue’ performed by Dion DiMucci. In November of the same year, he ventured on his nationwide tour with Shwayze.

The touring continued the following year with performances on all United dates on the annual Vans Warped Tour.

G-Eazy released his debut full-length album titled,’Must Be Nice’ on 23 of September 2012. The album hit the #3 spot on the iTunes Hip-Hop Chart.

In 2013, G-Eazy and 2Chainz joined Young Money rapper Lil Wayne for his “America’s Most Wanted Tour” which was scheduled to Takeoff from July 9.

The following year on January 5th, G-Eazy announced his “These Things Happen Tour” with Rockie Fresh, KYLE, and Tory Lanez accompanying him.

On June 24, 2014, he released his major-label album, These Things Happen, which topped the US Billboard’s Hip-Hop/R&B and Top Rap Albums charts, also earning him the number 3 spot on the US Billboard 200 and the Top Digital Albums Chart.

From October 2014 to August of 2016, G-Eazy embarked on three tours which are – “From the Bay to the Universe” tour, his second world tour, and the Endless Summer Tour which he co-headlined with fellow rappers Logic, YG, and Yo Gotti.


G-Eazy announced on June 14, 2017, via his Instagram account that he will be dropping his third label album before the end of the year. And on the 15 of December, the album was released, accompanied by a short film.

Growing up in Oakland, Gerald didn’t get the sort of pleasant childhood experience as many.

His mother left his father when he was still in first grade, making him grow without a mother’s love. However, he later lived with his grandparents.

Over the years, Gerald has been linked with several beautiful faces. He was in a relationship with singer and actress, Devon Baldwin who he met in his college years.

Consequently, the rapper was romantically involved with Lana Del Rey, Halsey, and Christina Roseann Ray. In early 2019, G-Eazy was seen dating VS model Yasmin Wijnaldum.
