Early Life

Full name Brandon Cole Bam Margera was born on the 28th of September 1979 in the US state of Pennsylvania to Phil Margera and April.

It could be said that Margera was born with a talent for the stunt as he was always running into walls which led to his grandfather calling him by the name ‘Bam Bam’ which was the sound he made whenever he hit the wall.

Margera attended West Chester East High School and was friends with current television personality Chris Raab. While in school, he was referred to by most of his school mates as ‘Bam’. Bam who admitted that Chris Raab was a major influence on him in high school, couldn’t continue after Chris left school but had to come back years later to get his GED.


He began his career by performing stunts and skating in the video series Camp kill yourself also known as the CKY series. With growing appeals for his work, he got on to be part of the MTV’s Jackass team which aired for three seasons.

After the end of the Jackass show, Bam kicked started Viva La Bam a show of his that ran on MTV airing for five seasons with viewers in the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Finland.

He also played a role in Gina Lynn movie ‘The Fantasstic Whores 4 (2008)’ and was part of Bam’s World Domination show and also the 2010 movie Jackass 3D.

Apart from stunts, Bam is also a skateboarder, a skill set of his he started putting to use in the late 90s. He was sponsored by various brands such as Volcom, Landspeed Wheels and Aido footwear. He retired from skateboarding in 2017.

Bam also has played a role in the movie Haggard (2003) and Minghags (2007) which he also directed and produced. He also owns a record label ‘Filthy Note Records‘ and also a major host of the radio show ‘Radio Bam‘.

Bam dated single mother Jenn Rivell in 1998 but broke up after seven years, after which he got married to Melissa “Missy” Rothstein in 2007.

His alcoholic habit affected the marriage and they got divorced in 2012. He is currently married to Nicole Boy and they have a son who is named Phoenix Wolf.

As earlier mentioned, Bam suffered from addiction to alcohol which greatly affected his health and he had to go on rehab and therapy to treat himself.
